Eye of the Storm
08/26/2008  On July 23rd, Bob Bensinger a proud owner of a Winter Texan Athens Park Home had to make a very difficult decision. With Hurricane Dolly rapidly approaching Bob decided not to leave his new home located in a mostly empty RV park in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. “I knew my Athens Park Home was very heavy and well built, but I still called and talked to an engineer at the factory to see what wind zone my house was rated for. I decided, what the heck, I am going to ride it out.” What Bob didn’t know was that for about 10 ½ hours from about 2:30AM until around 1:00PM the next day the winds would blow up to 110 miles per hour. Then as the eye of the storm passed over it was dead still for about 2 hours and then the winds came again. “I thought it was never going to end. I just stayed inside and tried to stay as safe as possible.” When the storm finally ended Bob went outside to see the damage. Up to 20 inches of rain had flooded the area, a 5th wheel in the park was lying on its side and there were telephone poles and fences down everywhere. “I walked around my home and the only damage I had was a plastic cap from the top of my solar tube had popped off and I actually found it and snapped it back on. It’s amazing with over a billion dollars of damage in the area and my Athens Park Home came through it without any damage. I am so thankful that I purchased an Athens Park Home.” * Bob purchased his Winter Texan home from Rob Bagwell’s A-1 Homes in Donna, TX

Athens Park Homes launches first FloLodge

Athens Park Homes, LLC, one of the top producing park model and specialty product manufacturers in the country, test launched its first floating cabin (FloLodge) produced out of its 140,000 square foot facility in Athens, TX. In February 2008, Athens Park Homes purchased the assets and intellectual properties of Flat Creek Lodges, Inc, who specialized in the manufacturing and sale of floating cabins. Mike Burleson former President of Flat Creek Lodges and now Vice President of the FloLodge division stated, “Our first Flolodge built in the Athens plant was highly successful and I am excited about the production potential now available to me.” The first unit was sold to Elephant Boy’s, a retailer in Spoken, WA, who is placing it in a slip at Waterford Marina in Bayview, ID
