Athens Park Homes, LLC was formed September 9, 2004 by a group of investors led by Phil Surles, former Chief Operating Officer of Champion Enterprises, Inc. Champion was the Nations largest homebuilder during Surles' tenure.

The group purchased the large 140,000 sq. ft. manufacturing
plant in Athens, TX from Champion to produce park models and cabins
and to take advantage of the large skilled work force in the area.
Surles had been General Manager of this facility in the early 1990’s
and was very familiar with the capabilities of the factory and
work force. Then in 2006, the group purchased the adjacent 150,000
square foot manufacturing plant and currently controls over 300,000
square feet of manufacturing on 75 plus acres of land.
